BIO
Based in Charlottesville, VA, Rare Bird Alert is a 4-to-5-piece bluegrass band that shares a unique blend of traditional bluegrass, jam band tunes, and a wide array of original music with audiences. We strive to create a lively musical experience that connects with music lovers of all ages and interests.
Since 2021, we’ve grown a solid fan base around Central Virginia now bringing out between 50-100 people to our gigs. From large breweries to small-town stages and private events, we’ve got over 30 original songs and covers that make each set different from the last.
A recent accomplishment for the band was being asked by Devil’s Backbone to play the morning after their 2023 triple header show with Yonder Mountain String Band, Keller Williams, and Railroad Earth. We headlined with support from Shagwuf (a kick-ass local Cville band) and Caleb Dillard (friend of Oliver Anthony and opener for Billy Strings).
Venues we’ve played include: Potter’s Cider Bluegrass Brunch, The Batesville Market, Starr Hill Brewery, and more. We also play loads of private events for groups up to 500.
